The Area is open from dawn to dusk, year-round. The area also consists of 5 trails which guide you thorough a wide variety of Kansas habitats. Wildlife variety and abundance is high at the Environmental Education Area. Viewing opportunities for bald eagle and osprey are just two examples. A bald eagle pair has successfully nested at the lake since 1994. Osprey have been released at the Environmental Education Area since 1996 in an attempt to establish a nesting population. This is a program of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Western Resources and Wolf Creek employees. Guided trails and environmental education presentations may be arranged by calling (620) 364-4141 or by visiting www.wcnoc.com.
