1721 - The first map showing the Kansas River is published by John Senex, a London cartographer and engraver. The map had been drawn by French cartographer Guillaume de L'Isle in his "Carte de la Louisiane," which was done about 1718. On it the "Grande Riv[iere] des Cansez" flows into the Missouri River at about the 40th parallel.
